We’re back from Spain! Valencia was absolutely breathtaking. I wasn’t expecting the gorgeous weather (70’s every day!) or the picture taking opportunities around every corner! I was editing photos to post here, and once I reached about 20 images, I realized that I would have to break down our trip into a few different posts.
The Turia River once flowed through Valencia, but back in 1957 flooding caused major damage to the city and they diverted the flow around the city instead. They were left with the former riverbed running through the city and decided to make a park system out of it. Thus, Turia Park. We walked about five miles a day in or around this park.
An old bridge which used to span the river and now spans the park….

There are high walls on both sides of Turia park – it was quite a deep river! Here Eric was checking out a hole in the wall in the shade of an orange tree…

Shadow portraits are pretty easy

A view of one of the buildings along the old river…We passed it at just the right time in the evening, catching the sun as it came through the windows…

Hole in one of the bridges…

Interesting looking flowers we found…

One of the coolest features of Turia Park is a playground based on Gulliver’s Travels. Aptly named, Gulliver Park it is based on and around the children’s story.

This was the highest vantage I was able to get within the park itself, but once we got back we checked on Google Maps and found the satellite image: Check Gulliver Out!
We definitely tried the slides out…

For Part II: L’Oceanographic, check back soon
